Goatskin

Goatskin carries one of the deepest colour ranges we stock — the 3 oz suede alone runs to twenty-nine shades — and it sits in our Pacoima warehouse rather than on a container. For a designer matching a colourway, or a costume department replacing a hide mid-build, availability is what decides the order.

We stock goat from 1.5 oz garment suede up to 3/4 oz (1.2–1.6 mm) shrunken and semi-veg tan. Finishes run to nappa, glazed kidskin, washed, pearlized, aniline, geometric and suede, in chrome and semi-vegetable tannages, with hair-on goat hides and Kidassia fur plates alongside them. Hides are a natural product: the small suedes commonly run 2–4 sq ft and Toledo 8–10 sq ft, and every listing states its own average.

Goat takes dye evenly and stays light for its strength, which is why it turns up in garments, linings, small leather goods and footwear.
