Description
Goatskin suede leather is a light kidskin hide split and gently buffed to raise a fine, even nap. Goat fiber is tighter than lamb, so the pile is short and dense rather than shaggy, and the skin keeps real strength for its weight instead of stretching out of shape. Hides run 2-4 square feet at 3 oz. and are stocked in a wide color range – twenty-nine shades from neutrals like Almond, Doe and Pebble through to Neon Yellow, Rio Red and Dazzling Blue.
Why Choose Goatskin Suede Leather
- Short, dense nap from the tight goat fiber – it brushes clean and does not shed like a loose split
- Strong for its weight: goat resists tearing where a lambskin of the same substance would give
- Soft, supple hand that cuts, folds and stitches easily on a domestic machine
- Small 2-4 sq. ft. hides, so a small project need not buy a whole side
- Twenty-nine stocked colors, including brights that are hard to find in suede

Ordering
Goatskin suede leather is sold by the hide. Suede shows its nap direction, so lay all the pieces of one project the same way round or the panels will read as two different shades. Depth of color varies between hides, so order all of one color together when a project has to match. For other napped stock see our Suedes & Nubuck range, browse the full Goatskin selection, or see Garment Leather for smooth alternatives.
