Leathers by Application

Shop leather by what you are making. Each section gathers the hides and sides that suit that kind of work, so you can compare weights, finishes and tannages side by side:
• Garment Leather: soft, light lambskin, cow, goat and pig leathers for jackets, skirts and costume pieces
• Lining Leather: thin, smooth skins for the inside of garments, bags and shoes
• Belting Leather and Belt Straps: firmer leathers and ready-cut strips for belts and straps
• Upholstery Leather: large hides for furniture, panels and big projects
• Tooling Leather: vegetable tanned leather that takes carving, stamping and dye
• Chap Leather: rugged leathers for chaps and western wear
• Leather Soles: sole leather for shoemaking and repair

Weights run from about 1/2 oz for linings and garments up to 8/9 oz for heavy straps, in chrome, semi-veg and vegetable tannages. Each listing shows its own thickness, tannage and hide size.

As a natural product, leather may show small marks, scars or range marks; these are part of genuine leather and are usually easy to cut around.
