Cowhide

Cowhide is what we stock deepest. It is our largest leather line and we restock it continuously — because production buyers do not wait, and a supplier who is out of stock is a supplier they replace. The hides are on our own floor in Los Angeles.

Formats. Whole hides, side hides, single and double shoulders, bends, bellies, belt panels and belt straps. Hides are a natural product and sizes vary — whole hides commonly run 38 to 52 sq ft, sides around 16 to 25 — so each listing states its own average size. Some articles are sold and cut by the square foot, and there are rough-cut 2 SF pieces for sampling.

Weights run from 2 oz garment leather up to 14/15 oz sole bends — light nappa and lining through to tooling shoulders and belting.

Finishes. Full grain, oily pull-up, crazy horse, aniline and semi-aniline, nubuck and suede, metallic and patent, perforated and laser cut, distressed and crackle — plus a large embossed range: crocodile, alligator, snake, lizard, ostrich, elephant, pebble and basket weave.

Both chrome-tanned and vegetable-tanned. Tannage, hide size, thickness and temper are listed on each product. Our hides are free of PCP, azo pigments, chrome VI, formaldehyde and APEO.
