Price range: $48.00 through $126.00

1/2″ (12mm) thick closed-cell foam is made of smooth EVA  material and absorbs shock while resisting water and UV radiation. At 50-55° Shore C and 12mm it is a working stock for thermoformed orthotic shells, total-contact diabetic bases and midsole blanks. It’s easy to cut and shape with a utility knife or a heat gun, making it highly versatile for use in sports gear, footwear, packaging, flooring, props, cosplay costumes, and art.

Description

What is EVA Foam? Eva Foam consists of Ethylene Vinyl Acetate and blended copolymers, which give an elastic quality. It is chemically cross-linked, resulting in a uniform cell structure and a semi-rigid product for various applications, and has shock-absorbing and buoyancy properties and is resistant to water, UV radiation, and cracking. Available in various thicknesses and densities with a smooth texture on both sides. It is a versatile material that can be shaped with heat, easily glued to other materials, and painted, making it perfect for creative expression. EVA foam has various uses, including thermo molding, footwear for midsoles, accessories, sports equipment, packaging, flooring, and even cosplay props and costumes.

Eva foam for orthotics and orthopedic footwear

At 50-55° Shore C this is the medium grade — firm enough to hold a shape, soft enough to accommodate. At 12mm there is real depth to work with, which makes it the everyday stock for thermoformed and total-contact work. Orthotic labs, pedorthists and shoe repair shops reach for this eva foam sheet for:

  • Thermoformed orthotic shells vacuum-formed over a positive cast
  • Total-contact diabetic and accommodative bases, with more give underfoot than the 70-75° grades
  • Posting and wedging for patients who cannot tolerate a hard post
  • Midsole blanks and sole units ground from solid stock
  • Heel lifts and buildups that still absorb shock rather than transmit it
  • The middle layer of a three-density insert, between a firm base and a soft top cover

Like the rest of our eva foam range it is closed-cell, so it does not soak up perspiration or lose thickness to it. It heat-forms readily, grinds and bevels to a clean edge, and takes contact cement well. Add a softer top cover such as our 2mm 25-30° Shore C EVA for comfort on top of this eva foam, or step up to the 60-75° Shore C high density range where the build needs more control.
