4mm Aqua Blue E500 EVA Foam — 50-55° Shore C, Two 41″ x 26″ Sheets

E500 is the medium-firm grade in our high density EVA range. At 50-55° Shore C it is stiff enough to hold a shape and take a clean cut edge, yet still soft enough to bend, skive and heat-form by hand. That balance is why it is the go-to EVA foam for orthotics work, as well as a favorite on the craft bench. This listing ships as two sheets, each 41″ x 26″ (104 x 66 cm), 4mm (0.16″) thick. We cut the full sheet in half so the parcel stays out of oversize shipping — you get the same material for less freight, and two pieces are easier to store and handle on a bench than one large roll. Together they give you about 14.8 square feet. The color is a solid aqua blue right through the foam, so cut edges show the same shade as the face.

EVA foam for orthotics, posting and prosthetics

50-55° Shore C is the medium-firm range custom foot orthotic labs reach for when a device has to control motion without going rigid. At 4mm it works as a build layer rather than a soft top cover: rearfoot and forefoot posting, medial and lateral wedges, arch fill and heel build-ups, backing behind a semi-rigid or rigid poly-pro shell, and the firm intermediate layer in a multi-density diabetic insert under a softer Plastazote or Spenco top cover. It also serves as padding and liner stock in AFOs and as filler in partial foot prostheses. As an EVA foam for orthotics it grinds and bevels cleanly on a sanding wheel, skives to a feather edge, heat-molds over a positive cast, and laminates to softer foams or to firmer EVA with contact cement. Because the cells are closed it will not soak up sweat, so it stays hygienic inside a shoe and wipes clean.

Cutting, grinding and heat-forming

Cut it with a sharp utility knife, rotary cutter or a clicker die. It heat-forms at roughly 150-200°F with a heat gun and keeps the new shape once cool, and it bonds well with contact cement or hot glue. Sand the cut edges lightly for a rounded profile. Because the cells are closed the surface seals rather than soaking up glue, paint or water, so it stays dimensionally stable outdoors and in damp conditions. Sheets ship rolled. Let them relax flat for a few hours before cutting.
