Description
2mm High-Density closed-cell EVA Foam with a hardness of 70-75° Durometer Shore C. Eva Foam is a type of foam made from Ethylene Vinyl Acetate and blended copolymers, which gives it an elastic quality. It is chemically cross-linked, resulting in a uniform cell structure and a semi-rigid product for various applications. Eva Foam is known for its shock-absorbing and buoyancy properties and its resistance to water, UV radiation, and cracking. Because of these properties, Eva Foam is a highly versatile material that can be used in various fields, such as footwear, sports, packing, flooring, sports equipment, and even props and costumes for cosplay. EVA foam presents itself as a highly versatile material worth exploring due to its wonderful ability to be shaped with heat, glued to other materials, and painted. It boasts a smooth texture on both sides and is conveniently available in various thicknesses and densities, opening up endless possibilities for creative expression.
E700 High-Density EVA Foam is also available in 2 mm through 40 mm — see the full 60-75° Shore C high density range.
Eva foam for orthotics and orthopedic footwear
At 70-75° Shore C this 2mm sheet is the firm end of the range — a control and reinforcement layer rather than a cushion. Orthotic labs, pedorthists and shoe repair shops reach for this eva foam sheet for:
- Rearfoot and forefoot posting, heel wedges and skives ground to prescription
- Thin semi-rigid base or shell layer for accommodative inserts, where a full shell would be too bulky
- The firm layer in dual- and triple-density laminations, under a softer top cover
- Heel lifts and full-length shims that add height without bulk
- Midsole filler, shank fill and heel stiffening in orthopedic footwear and shoe repair
- Bottoming and reinforcement layers that take cement well and grind to a clean edge
Like the rest of our eva foam range it is closed-cell, so it does not soak up perspiration and wipes clean. It grinds and bevels to a crisp edge, heat-forms over a positive cast, and holds its shape under body weight. For the cushioning side of the build, pair it with our softer 2mm 25-30° Shore C EVA as a top cover — the firm sheet controls, the soft sheet comforts — two grades of eva foam doing two different jobs.
