Working With Tuscany Veg Tan Leather
At 1.6 – 2 mm this is the firmest of the Tuscany weights, suited to work that needs the leather to stand up on its own rather than drape. It takes tooling and stamping, and the undyed surface holds the impression cleanly. Because it is undyed it takes dye, stain and finish evenly, and like all vegetable tanned leather it darkens gently with light and handling.
Double shoulders let you cut long straight straps without piecing. Lay out belt and strap runs along the backbone line where the fibre is tightest.
