Description

Aniline buffalo leather is a full-grain buffalo hide colored with transparent dyes and finished matte, with no pigment coat laid over the surface. That leaves the deep natural pebble of buffalo visible and gives the leather an unusually soft, warm hand for a hide this size. These are whole hides, running 35-43 square feet at 3/4 oz. (1.2-1.6 mm), in Black, Brown, Cognac, Navy Blue and Oatmeal.

Why Choose Aniline Buffalo Leather

  • Full-grain buffalo with its own pronounced natural pebble – nothing embossed, nothing corrected
  • Aniline dyed with no pigment topcoat, so the grain and the depth of color both read through
  • Soft matte finish with none of the plastic sheen of a coated hide
  • Whole hides of 35-43 sq. ft. – large enough for furniture panels and long cuts
  • Substantial 3/4 oz. weight that holds structure while staying supple

Best Uses for Aniline Buffalo Leather

  • Upholstery, sofa and chair panels, seat pads
  • Handbags, totes, briefcases and luggage
  • Jackets, vests and chap work
  • Belts, straps and heavy small goods
  • Interiors, cushions and wall panels

Ordering

Aniline buffalo leather is sold by the hide, and each one falls within the size range you choose. With no pigment coat, shade, grain depth and natural markings all vary from hide to hide – that variation is what aniline looks like, not a fault – so order everything for one project together when the color has to match, and work with clean hands, as aniline marks more readily than a coated surface. Disclaimer: These leathers are free of PCP, Azo Pigments, Chrome VI, Formaldehyde, and APEO.
