Description
Goatskin garment suede is a light 1.5 oz. goat hide sueded to a short, fine nap. Goat fiber is tighter than lamb, so the pile stays close and even rather than shaggy, and the skin keeps real strength at a weight thin enough to gather and drape. Whole hides run 5-7 square feet, stocked in Black, Natural, Biscuit, Dark Earth, Rustic Brown and Scarlet Red.
Why Choose Goatskin Garment Suede
- Short, dense nap that brushes clean and does not shed like a loose split
- Strong for its weight – goat resists tearing where a lambskin of the same substance would give
- Light 1.5 oz. substance with genuine drape for garment work
- Whole hides at 5-7 sq. ft., a practical size for small projects and craft work
- Six colors, from quiet naturals through to Scarlet Red

- Garments, vests, skirts and trim
- Bag linings, gussets and interior panels
- Doll clothing, toys and craft work
- Handbags, pouches and small goods

Ordering
Goatskin garment suede is sold by the hide. Suede shows its nap direction, so lay all the panels of one project the same way round or they will read as two different shades. Depth of color varies a little between hides, so order all of one color together when a project has to match. For the heavier 3 oz. suede see our Goatskin Suede Leather 3 oz, browse the full Goatskin selection, the rest of our Suedes & Nubuck, or Garment Leather.
