Description
Rustic Brown cavallino calfskin is a hair-on calf hide with the coat clipped short and dyed a warm mid-brown through the hair. The close pile reads as a dense velvet rather than a shaggy pelt, which is why cavallino cuts and sews far more predictably than a long-hair hide. Hides run 3-8 square feet at 2/3 oz.
Why Choose Rustic Brown Cavallino Calfskin
- Close-clipped coat with a dense, even pile that lies flat under a seam
- Calfskin base, finer and more uniform than cowhide of the same weight
- Dyed through the hair, so the colour holds where the pile parts
- A warm brown that reads as natural pony – the easiest hair-on colour to pair with tan leather and brass
- Three size bands from 3-4 up to 7-8 sq. ft., so you buy close to what you need

The Hide
Ordering
Rustic Brown cavallino calfskin is sold by the hide. Hair lies in one direction, so cut from the back with a blade rather than shears and lay all the panels of a project the same way round, or they will read as two different shades. Every hide is a natural coat, so density and markings vary – order everything for one project together. For the other colours see our Hair-On Calfskin range, or browse our Hair-On Cowhide. For current stock or volume pricing, email Info@Avetcoinc.com or call 818-890-6680.
