Description
Devore cowhide is a natural Brazilian hair-on side – the hair is its own colour, not bleached – carrying a metallic gold film laid onto the surface in Italy. The gold falls in irregular splashes and patches, and where it sits heaviest the hair is thinned or etched away, so the surface shifts between full coat, cropped hair and bare gold. Sides run 18-20 square feet at 3 oz. (1.2-1.4 mm).

Devore cowhide is sold by the side, and each one falls within the size range you choose. Hair lies in one direction, so cut from the back with a blade rather than shears and lay matching panels the same way round. The metallic finish sits on the hair and the hair is thinner where the gold is heaviest, so avoid heat and hard creasing on the face, and test any adhesive on an offcut.
