Description
Heritage goatskin leather is a smooth, finely grained goat hide with a silky hand and a clean refined finish – less pebbled than a typical goat, closer to a fine calf. Goat fibre is tighter than lamb, so it keeps real strength at a light weight and holds a crisp fold. Hides run 6-8 square feet at 2/3 oz. (0.8-1.2 mm), in Black, Cordova Red, Crown Jewel Purple, Cypress Green and Green Olive.
Why Choose Heritage Goatskin Leather
- Fine, even grain with a silky surface – smoother than standard goat pebble
- Strong for its weight: goat resists tearing where a lambskin of the same substance would give
- Light 2/3 oz. substance that skives thin and sews on a domestic machine
- Holds a crisp fold and a clean edge, which suits wallets and bookbinding
- Five deep, considered colours rather than the usual black and brown
Best Uses for Heritage Goatskin Leather
- Wallets, card cases and fine small goods
- Bookbinding, journals and box covering
- Handbags, clutches and accessory panels
- Shoe linings and footwear detail
- Garment trim, collars and cuffs

Ordering
Heritage goatskin leather is sold by the hide. Goat grain varies naturally across a skin, finer along the back and more open at the belly, so cut matching panels from the same area. Order all of one colour together when a project has to match. For other goat finishes see our full Goatskin range, or browse our Smooth Leathers and Garment Leather.
