Description
Bone Pig Leather – Half Bundle, Tannery Run
This bone pig leather half bundle gives you about 200 square feet of full grain pigskin in a soft bone color, sold together at a bundle price. Pig leather is thin and smooth, with a soft to medium temper that is slightly boardy, so it holds its shape well in linings, small leather goods and apparel. Because these are tannery run hides, they are a practical choice for production linings and smaller cut pieces where every panel does not need to be flawless.
What Tannery Run Means
All full grain pigskin naturally shows scratches and scars, even in first quality, for the reasons explained below. Tannery run hides are sold as they come from the tannery, without sorting out the lower grades, so on top of those normal scratches you can expect heavier marks, bites, small holes, color variation and more cutting loss, especially toward the edges. Most hides still have a good usable center, so plan your layout around the marks. If you want the pick of the hides, choose our first quality Pig Full Grain Leather, sold by the single hide.
Why Pigskin Shows Scratches
- Group housing: pigs naturally nudge, fight and crowd together in tight spaces, which leaves scratches on the skin.
- Coarse bristle removal: removing the stiff hairs leaves distinct, deep triangular puncture marks that make the surface texture uneven.
- No protective coat: pigs have bristles rather than dense, cushioning fur, so the skin is less protected.
- Dense fiber structure: pig skin has tightly packed fibers that lock surface scars into the grain as the hide cures.

About Natural Leather
Leather is a natural byproduct created from animal skins and, therefore, may have markings and imperfections just like human skin. These markings — scars, bug bites, fat wrinkles, and brands — are signs of authentic, genuine leather, and each one makes your hide one of a kind.
