Working With Veg Aniline Leather

At 1.2 – 1.6 mm with a semi-soft temper, this weight carries belts and straps while still cutting and folding cleanly for bags and cases. It takes tooling and stamping.

Because it is aniline-dyed rather than pigment-finished, the colour sits in the leather and the grain stays visible. Expect natural variation between hides, and test any edge finish or topcoat on an offcut first.

Please Note:

As with all genuine leather, it’s completely normal for hides to have small holes or irregular edges, especially near the perimeter. These are part of the natural shape and not considered defects.
