Black pebble lambskin leather from our Floater article. The even pebble grain is embossed into a soft, light semi-veg tanned lambskin, so it has a little more body than a plain chrome lamb while still sewing, skiving and folding easily, and the raised texture keeps the hide looking good through everyday handling. Whole hides come in 8-10, 10-12 or 12-13 sq. ft. at 0.8-1.0 mm (2-2.5 oz.).

Working With Pebble Grain Lambskin
At 0.8-1.0 mm this lambskin sews well on a domestic or light industrial machine with a size 80/12 to 90/14 leather needle and a slightly longer stitch, so the needle holes do not weaken the seam. A walking foot or a non-stick foot helps it feed evenly on the grain side; hold layers with clips rather than pins, since pin holes stay in leather. Avoid pressing the face with a hot iron – heat can flatten an embossed grain – and use a low setting through a press cloth if a seam needs setting.
